Daughters of Mercy

Daughters of mercy, daughters of doubt
Did you ever believe what they told you about
When you do things to please them are you going without
What your heart needs to breathe, and your mind needs to shout
So rise up, daughters of mercy
You're fighters in the cause of the worthy
You'll guide us to the glorious return of the compassionate word
To an irrational world
And bring peace to the earth once more
Daughters of mercy, daughters of fear
Have you given your heartache for a man of good cheer
Have you fallen asleep for a week, for a year
Into slumbered obedience and a blanket of tears
So rise up, daughters of mercy
You're fighters in the cause of the worthy
You'll guide us to the glorious return of the compassionate word
To an irrational world
And bring peace to the earth once more
Daughters of mercy, the world needs you now
We're broken, and hurting
Our pain weighs us down
Been too hard on ourselves and it's time to let this go
Build some kindness within our souls
Take our men under cover
Stop shaming each other
'Til they're much more than brothers in arms
Daughters of mercy, daughters of fate
When your time comes to love them are you lying in wait
Light your beacons of empathy before it's too late
To take the fight to the man who is peddling hate
So rise up, daughters of mercy
You're fighters in the cause of the worthy
You'll guide us to the glorious return of the compassionate word
To an irrational world
And bring peace to the earth once more
