Dew on the Morning Earth

Here I am waiting for your touch
Bring your words, but don’t say too much
And here I am under starry skies
Show me, love, where your darkness lies
Show me love where your darkness lies
The grass is sweet where you lightly tread
No footprints left, nothing to regret
Seeds that fly from your open hand
And leave no marks where your kisses land
Leave no marks where your kisses land
And though they may call to us
With spite and longing and jealousy
Love like a sparrow in your palm
Waits to fly
Here I am where I’ve always been
Tracing my fantasies on your skin
Weave your memories and draw your power
And think of me in your lonely hours
Think of me in your lonely hours
And when the call of the wind is chill
Linger here of your own free will
Pay no homage and bring no gifts
Just air and freedom and speechless bliss
Air and freedom and speechless bliss
And though they may call to us
With spite and longing and jealousy
Love like a sparrow in your palm
Waits to fly
Welcome here, never back too soon
Dawn or twilight or afternoon
Don’t stay too long and don’t leave too fast
And say goodbye like you’re coming back
Say goodbye like you’re coming back
Do no harm and I’ll do the same
Shelter me from my oldest pain
Share the warmth of a love deserved
And smell the dew on the morning earth
Smell the dew on the morning earth
